The launch of the Nintendo 3DS went up so well yesterday, gamers from around the globe got excited with the new eyeglasses-free portable game machine and could not wait to get their hands on one of the gaming console. But just a day after the launch of the $250 portable console, reports about crashes came pouring down. In forums like DigitalSpy, NeoGAF and AVForums some users of Nintendo 3DS reported about an error message that suddenly flashes on the screen. The message, which is set against a black background, goes like this: “An error occured. Hold down the POWER Button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. If the problem persist, please contact your local customer support. For contact details,c heck the Operations Manual or visit support.nintendo.com.” The early adopters of Nintendo’s 3DS portable have termed the error as the “Black Screen of Death”, which is found to be affecting Super Monkey Ball, Street Fighter IV 3D, Pilotwings, Ghost Recon, Lego Star Wars, and Mii at the moment.
The Nintendo 3DS Black Screen of Death problem is not that bad because many users were able to fix it by following what was flashed on the screen. Some users claim to have fixed the problem for good by formatting the SD cards to the FAT-32 format. Of course there are some users who prefered sending their console back to Nintendo. as of this writing Nintendo has not given any official statement about this problem.
