The first Sandy Bridge powered laptop is now available in the US and it happens to be HP Pavilion DV7-4290US. Sandy Bridge is Intel’s second generation Core processors which is build on a new “ring” architecture which allows the built-in processor graphics engine to share resources.
HP Pavilion DV7-4290US is powered by Intel Core i7-2630QM “Sandy Bridge” 2GHz quad-core processor and 6GB of DDR3 memory. It’s display is 17.3-inch 1600×900. As to storage, it has a 1TB hard drive, which is good enough for all the images, music, and videos you’d like to store in it. Other features include Blu-ray Combo drive, 9-cell battery, built-in webcam and mic, audio system with a subwoofer, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, apparently four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA outputs, a 5-in-1 media card reader, a fingerprint reader. The OS that comes with it is Windows 7 Home Premium. As to the covering, this baby has aluminum-brushed finish. To have this machine you need to have around $1,130.
